The temple
administration at Guruvayur spends a good amount of money on social and
public welfare activities
such as education, medical aid, poor feeding, donations to temple etc.
Donation to Temples
Every year Devaswom spends about 50 Lakhs for assisting the
financially backward temples in Kerala. Applications will be invited
every year and the selection will be done by the Managing Committee.
Prasada oottu
Devaswom has started Prasada
oottu (mass feeding of food for the devotees) in 15th May 1983. This is
done in the oottupura at 10.00 am every day. Now around 1500 persons
take food every day. On special days like Ashtami Rohini, Onam,
Utsavam etc, around 10000-15000 devotees take food here.
Poor feeding
Every
day food is sent to about 200 persons of the Municipal Agathi Mandiram
and 100 children of the Kasthurbha Balika Sadanam in the Guruvayur
Munucipality.
